BHARAT PARV 2016

The rich cultural and ethnic heritage of India, including folk dances, cuisine and handicrafts from across the country was showcased as a part of an annual festival called 'Bharat Parv', at the Red Fort lawns. This festival was in continuation with the grand Republic Day celebrations which is an integral part of every Indian’s life.

We at Prantic were extremely fortunate to have found our place representing the state of West Bengal on that prestigious stage exhibiting an hour long dedicated dance and musical program called, ‘Matir Tan e, Matir Gaan e’ on 29th January 2016.

The melodious program comprised of 5 celebrated Bengali songs sung composed by the Prantic members. The show kick-started with our little rock stars performing on the famous Bengali folk song called ‘Shohag Chand Badani’ in which a new bride is being teased by her friends and the new couple is being compared to ‘Radha and Krishan’. This was followed by another amazing act by the gleaming ladies who form the heart and soul of Prantic, the folk genre was ‘Bhawaiyan” and the song was ‘Bhalo Koira baje go’. The next song was ‘Bondhu Tin din’ which is originally sung by the famous Bangladeshi singer Runa Laila. ‘Milan hobe koto dine’ the famous baul folksong was next in line and was brought to life by the ladies of Prantic, the finale was another incredible performance by our little kids on the song called ‘Kanai O Kanai’ which is sung by the boatmen in the villages.

Facilitated by the Ministry of Tourism, The Government of India and supported by Office of the Resident Commissioner, Government of West Bengal, New Delhi, the program was a grand success and it made all of us at Prantic beam with Pride. We look forward to many such ventures in the future.
